Joan Gilbert, age 91 of North Huntingdon died April 9, 2025, at Golden Heights Care Center. She was born July 18, 1933, in Export, a daughter of the late Anthony and Mary Sawicz Martinsek. Joan was an active member of the New Hope Presbyterian Church and served on the missions and finance committees. She also chaired the craft and vendor fundraisers. She was a member of the Westmoreland County Girl Scout council and board of directors along with the Senior Scouts special events coordinator. She achieved the lifetime achievement award. She was a neighborhood chairman and troop leader. Joan also served as secretary of the PAL league and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She was a member of the Manor Valley Golf Club. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband James "'Bud" Gilbert, her son Guy, and her sister Bertha Huff. Bud and Joan celebrated a 90th birthday and 70 years of marriage in July 2023. She is survived by three sons, Gary (Trudy), Gregory (Denise), and Glenn Gilbert, daughter in law, Sharon Gilbert, sister, Patricia Peters, grandchildren, Michael, Garrett (Nina), Richard (Alexandra), Zachary (Kylie), Lindsey (Jarod), and Grace. Five great grandchildren, Rylen, Benjamin, Jonah, Baker and Charleigh. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
