Edith C. Shaffer, age 92 of Elizabeth Twp., passed away peacefully and surrounded by her family on Friday, November 18, 2016 in Mt. Vernon of Elizabeth, joining her husband in the presence of the Lord.  Born February 16, 1924 in McKeesport, she was the only child of the late Charles and Caroline Baker.

 A member of the Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church in Elizabeth Twp. and also the AARP Boston and Versailles Chapters, Edith retired as a private secretary at Westinghouse's Bettis Plant in West Mifflin.  Her family will remember her as an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, and they will love and miss her always.  Edith was preceded in death by her husband, Wilfred "Bud" Shaffer, who passed away September 13, 2000, and a granddaughter, the late Alyssa Shaffer.  She is survived by her son Doug (Becky) Shaffer of Scottsdale, AZ; her daughters Darlene (Butch) Basic and Stacey (Mike) Simon, both of Elizabeth Twp.; her grandchildren Derek (Lynn) Shaffer of Phoenix, AZ, Courtney (Ken) and Brett (Mylena) Basic and Tyranee and Seth Simon, all of Elizabeth Twp.; and her great-grandchildren Elysse and Braxton Shaffer, Tyler and Taya Basic, and Gavin Stalkowski.  Friends will be received in the Daniel F. Bekavac Funeral Home and Crematory, 4504 Walnut St., Versailles Borough, McKeesport, PA 15132 (412-678-3454) on Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 1 to 4 PM and 6 to 8 PM.  A Funeral Service will be held at Central Highlands Community United Methodist Church, Elizabeth Twp., on Monday, November 21, 2016 at 10:30 AM with Rev. William Starr officiating.  If attending the funeral service, please go directly to the church.  Procession and burial will follow to Richland Cemetery, Dravosburg.  Edith's family would like to thank the staffs of Mt.
