Anthony Michael Stratigos, age 83, of White Oak died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2016.

He was born in Youngstown, Ohio on May 5, 1933 and is the son of the late Harry and Argiro Conomos Stratigos and son-in-law of the late Peter and Angela Poupakis.  He graduated from McKeesport High School and attended Youngstown State University.  He served in the US Army during the Korean War and was employed at US Steel National Tube until he retired.  He was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in White Oak where he served on parish council and was the current chairman of the building committee.  He was a member of AHEPA, Masons, Shriners and YASOU.  He was a real estate developer, enjoyed listening to Greek music, traveling and visiting the casino.  He had a passion for video/photography and loved spending time with his family and friends. 

Anthony Stratigos is a true example of humility and the spirit of giving selflessly by attending to the needs of the church.  Tony and his wife Helen of 53 years worked together for the glory of the parish.  It is known throughout the congregation, “When you want something done for the church, call Tony, and he will get it done.” 

He is survived by his loving wife, Helen Poupakis Stratigos; his daughter, Dr. Rula (Attorney Jacob) Skezas of White Oak; grandson, Dr. Nicholas Anthony; granddaughter, Eleni Fotini; brothers, George and James Stratigos; a special nephew who was like a son to him, Donald (Josie) Poupakis and their 3 children, Monica, Angela & Peter all of West Mifflin; also, many nieces and nephews.  He is preceded in death by his sister, Toula Stratigos.

Remembrances may be made in Anthony’s name to Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church, 1128 Summit St., White Oak, PA  15131.

Friends will be received at Strifflers of White Oak Cremation and Mortuary Services, 1100 Lincoln Way, White Oak, 15131 (Sue Striffler Galaski, Supervisor, (412)-678-6177) on Sunday, Nov. 6th from 2:00-8:00 pm, Trisagion at 7:00 pm.  Funeral Service will be held Monday, 10:00 am at Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church with visitation 1 hour prior to service at church.  Services will be officiated by Fr. Sarantos Serviou, Fr. Polycarp Rameas, Fr. Iakovos Koutsakis and Fr. William Zotis. Burial will follow.
