Carol Ann Barney Dixon, 77, of Irwin, passed away Sunday, November 12th, 2023, in the hospital. She was born June 25, 1946, in Washington, PA, the youngest child of Omar L. Barney and Louisa F. (Stoner) Barney. She was a proud 1964 graduate of Washington High School and she was very proud of her years in the Girls Scouts organization. Following a brief career in sales, Carol acted as a caregiver to many individuals in her life including both of her parents, her Aunt Midge and her late husband. She enjoyed socializing with friends, craft shows, afternoon soap operas, and doo-wop music. She was also a huge fan of Pittsburgh sports teams and a longtime lover of frogs. She was preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of 43 years, William “Billy” Dixon; her sister Lois A. Baynes; her lifelong best friend, Beverlee Reynolds; and her faithful dog, Rudi. She is survived by daughters Stephanie A. Dixon (Cliff Howard) of Irwin, and Stacy A. Barbour (Michael Barbour) of Greensburg; brother, William Barney (Gwen Barney), of McKees Rocks; two grandchildren, Jenna and Andy Barbour; several nieces and nephews; and her close friend, Charlene Reynolds. Friends will be received from 1-7 p.m. on Thursday at the James W. Shirley Funeral Home, 176 Clay Pike, North Huntingdon, PA 15642. A funeral service will take place at 6:30 p.m. Interment will be private in Washington Cemetery.
