Jack E. Underwood, 94, of North Huntingdon, passed away October 27, 2016 at Hempfield Manor.

He was born January 12, 1922 in Alma, WV, a son of the late Claude O. and Winnie A. DeLoe Underwood.  Prior to his retirement, Jack as a lab tech for Westinghouse Bettis.  He was a veteran of the US Army during WWII, serving in the 339th Infantry Regiment, and the 85th Division in Italy.  Jack was the recipient of the Distinguished Service Cross, Silver Star, Italian War Cross, Combat Infantryman Badge, EAME Ribbon with 3 Battle Stars, and was a recipient of a battlefield commission to Second Lieutenant.   He was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church, VFW Post 781 North Huntingdon, Shidle Lodge 601 F.&A.M. Irwin and enjoyed bowling and golfing.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Keith E. Underwood.  He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Louise H. Schoeller Underwood; daughters, Kerry Ann Leonard and her husband, Carl, Kim Susan Nemeth and her husband, Raymond; five grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren and daughter in law Sharyn.  Services are private.
