Roy S. DaVane, 81, a devoted Christian who touched the lives of many with his unwavering faith and compassionate spirit, died May 28, 2023.

Born on December 7, 1941 (Pearl Harbor Day) he embarked on a life journey that exemplified Christian principles.  He was the son of the late Roy S. DaVane Sr. and Suzanna R. Pendro. He was proceeded in death by his wife of 57 years, Sandra G Collura as well as his daughter Danielle Wharton and sister Constance Howard. He is survived by his sister Lois Ondish of North Versailles as well as his children, Roy A. DaVane of Pittsburgh, Michelle McGuire of North Versailles, Dana Serrapere of North Versailles, Debbie Riccelli of Mount Pleasant. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Danielle Wharton of North Versailles.

Roy also had 13 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren (who affectionately called him “Pappy D”) plus numerous nieces and nephews. He was a pillar of strength within his family, providing unconditional love to everyone.

His faith was the cornerstone of his life and he instilled in his family the value of having a personal relationship with Christ.  A man of prayer, Roy faithfully attended Faith Bible Baptist Church where he served as a devoted member for many years.

Outside of his faith, Roy was a member of the Teamsters Union for 30 years. After retirement, he used his time processing scrap metal which led to his title of “Master Scrapper”!

He enjoyed fishing and hunting at our family camp in the mountains and “hitting the bike trail”. His warm smile, gentle nature, and words of encouragement will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. Roy’s impact extends far beyond his immediate family as he positively influenced the lives of friends and neighbors, that a life filled with prayer will bring about salvation.
