Eileen Jordan Gerneth, age 86, of Point Breeze, passed away peacefully at Longwood at Oakmont surrounded by her family where she was known for her beautiful smile and endearing ways. Eileen was born in McKeesport to Eileen Kelly Jordan and Anthony Jordan of Jordan Bananas. She spent most of her growing up years in Laurel Mountain Park in Ligonier.

Eileen is survived by her loving husband of 57 years, George Gerneth MD, her daughters Lisanne Smith (married to Bradley Smith) (O’Hara) and Megan Bergmann (married to Peter Bergmann) (Troy, MI), her cherished grandchildren Caroline Smith, Charlie Smith, Cooper Smith, Otto Bergmann, Hugo Bergmann and Annelies Bergmann, brothers Anthony Jordan and the late Ralph Jordan, and sisters Judy Kalich (married to Richard Kalich) (Keene, NH) and Rosena Jordan (Annapolis, MD). She enjoyed her year of study at Penn Hall Junior College and graduated from the University of Pittsburgh in Physical Therapy. She cared deeply for her patients at DT Watson Home, Easterseals and Mercy Hospital.  She loved riding horses, skiing, and gardening in her backyard with her husband, Big “G”. Eileen loved an adventure and adored her lifelong friends from Ligonier, McKeesport, and the beloved Pittsburgh Ski Club. These friends filled her life with abundant joy and many hours were filled playing bridge with the gals. Eileen was known for her giving nature, friendly smile, and open heart. She was hopelessly optimistic and a philanthropist of the world! Visitation will be at BURKET-TRUBY FUNERAL HOME CREMATION & ALTERNATIVE SERVICES INC. 421 Allegheny Ave. Oakmont on Sunday, January 29, 2023 from 3 pm to 5 pm. A blessing service will be held at 4:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon during the visitation. Private entombment to follow in Homewood Cemetery, Pittsburgh.
