Eugene Ziegler, age 82, of North Huntingdon, died December 31, 2022, at Westmoreland Hospital. Born April 12, 1940, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Amos W. and Bertha (Leonhardt) Ziegler and the husband of Arlene (Williams) Ziegler for 61 years.

 

 Eugene was a 1958 graduate of McKeesport High School. For most of his career, he worked as a draftsman for Koppers. The Boy Scouts were an integral part of Eugene's life. He was an Eagle Scout and became active as an adult when his grandson Benjamin joined. He assisted Troop 1640 with camping trips and other functions and was always there with Benjamin. Eugene was a former member of Concordia Lutheran Church in McKeesport and an active member of First United Methodist Church in McKeesport. With First United Methodist, Eugene was instrumental in getting the church recognized as a National Historic Landmark. He was a choir member, taught Sunday School, and was the current Council Chairman at church. Eugene mentored many youths with the Boy Scouts and also as a McKeesport Youth Fellowship Counselor. He was also a member of the Pontiac Club and a Past President of AARP. At home, Eugene kept busy woodworking making items for his family, and playing the harmonica, guitar, and piano. In addition to his wife, Arlene, he is survived by sons, Alan (Kathleen) Ziegler and Gary (Shari) Ziegler; grandchildren, Lauren (Greg) Wilson and Ben Ziegler; great-grandson, Jack Wilson; sister, Elaine (Robert) Holstine; nieces, Debbie (Larry) Dunn, Beth Ann Meier, and Judy (Herb) Schmulewicz. He is also survived by many loving great-nieces and great-nephews. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Thursday from 3 to 7 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Friday at 10 a.m. at First United Methodist Church of McKeesport. Everyone is asked to please meet at the church. Burial will follow at Mt. Vernon Cemetery. Condolences and memories may be shared at www.jaycox-jaworskifh.com.
