John W. "Chombo" Chomas, age 66, of Elizabeth, passed away on Tuesday, November 29, 2022 at home after a long battle with cancer. He was a former employee at Hercules in West Elizabeth and was a life member of Blaine Hill Volunteer Fire Co. and a member of the Blaine Hill Hunt Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, horse racing, watching sports on television, and was a Draft Kings enthusiast. Born December 15, 1955 in McKeesport, he was a son of the late William J. and Malinda (Roberts) Chomas. He is survived by sisters, Veronica (the late John) Bohlander of Rockville, MD, Mary Ellen (Michael) Yanity of Port Vue, Patti (Steve) Ostergaard of Tigoni, Kenya, and Pamela Meyer of Liberty Borough; also, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Kay Chomas and Judi Faith. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Friday, December 2, 2022 from 2-4 and 6-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, December 3, 2022 at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Jude Urso officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp.
