William F. Cunningham

William F. Cunningham, age 73, of North Versailles, died September 5, 2023, at Squirrel Hill Center for Rehabilitation and Healing. Born October 24, 1949, in Carnegie, he was the son of the late Francis and Beatrice Cunningham.
William retired from Duquesne Light Company as a Computer Analyst and then worked for ACS. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran. In his younger years, he coached his sons' baseball team.
William is survived by his sons, Mark and Brian Cunningham, and sister, Shirley (Harold) Bier.
Arrangements were entrusted to Willig Funeral Home & Crematory.
Burial was in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

It is with great sadness, but also great joy that we announce the passing of our mother, Dorothy Passaro, into the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Dorothy, 86, was born on June 24, 1937 in Jeannette to Wilda and Ralph Volk. Dorothy was a graduate of Jeannette Sr. High School and a lifetime member of Jeannette Assembly of God Church.  She enjoyed eating her favorite foods such as steak, chocolate, all sweets and ice cream.  She liked flowers, her favorite color was pink and she loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She was  preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Passaro, sisters, Ruth, Phyllis, Wilda, and brothers, Donald, James and Larry. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Herold (Michael); sons, Richard D. Passaro and Scott Passaro (Angela); sister, Gladys; grandchildren, Christopher Passaro, Jonathan Passaro, Michael Forish (Brittney), Rachel Passaro, Brittany Passaro; and great-grandchildren, Michael Henry and Evelyn.  Family and friends will be received from 2-6 p.m. on Tuesday at the James W Shirley Funeral Home,  176 Clay Pike in North Huntingdon.  A funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.    Interment will be private.  www.shirleyfuneralhome.com

Nicholas Angelo Nero

icholas Angelo Nero, age 71 of Sumter, SC and formerly of Jefferson Borough, died at home August 8, 2023.  Born November 4, 1951, he was the son of the late Domenick Nero and Lucille (LaValle) Nero of Jefferson Borough.  Nick was a 1970 graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and a decorated veteran of 22 years in the United States Air Force. Nick was very active in American Legion Post 15 of Sumter serving as commander, adjutant, and historian as well as chairing the Sumter County Fair Commission hosted by Post 15.  As a member of the Sumter County Garden Club, he was a certified master gardener and helped beautify his community, Nick was also a member of the Clariton Anglers Club, where he spent much of his summer time with his family. In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife of 35 years, Elaine; sisters Karen (Michael) Dougherty of Jefferson, Lori (James) Banner of Boise, ID, and Mary DiLonardo of Rostraver Twp.; as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was a member of Local 5 IBEW and enjoyed Thursday evening golf at Butler's. Born April 21, 1971 in Monongahela, he was a son of the late Donald J. Turek Sr. and the late Mary (Supernovich) Turek. He is survived by his wife, Michelle Burley Turek of Bunola; daughters, Sarah Turek of Columbus, OH, Samantha (Tom) Giffin of Connellsville and Kendra Burley of Connellsville; son, Donald J. Rhoda Ann Goldstrohm (Vines) was called to join our Heavenly Father in the beautiful garden of Heaven on September 5, 2023.  She joins her parents John and Emma Vines and her brother William (Bill) Vines in eternal happiness.  She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years James Goldstrohm; her three children: Claire Pingree, Emily Belchick (Tom), and Paul Goldstrohm (Jennifer); her adoring grandchildren: Raymond, Jonathan, Ryan, Caitlin, Emma, Liam, and Grace; and her siblings Diane Sedita and John Vines (Michelle).  She was blessed with a multitude of lifelong friendships.  Rhoda lived a life of enduring faith and love of Jesus Christ and Mary Mother of God.  She was a devoted wife, sister, mother, aunt, and grandmother to her family, who loved her dearly.  As the family matriarch, she humbly provided whatever was needed.  Rhoda had a heart of service and a calling to mentor youth.  Her lifelong commitment to the Girl Scouts of America and volunteer work with St. Robert Bellarmine parish was commendable.  Never wanting or seeking recognition, her countless works were tribute enough.

Tarbuk.  Loving mother of Shawna Marie Woodward, Shannon RaeAnne Woodward, and stepson Brian (Annette) Tarbuk.  Dear grandmother (Nama) of Jordan Alexander Woodward, Jackson Andrew Woodward, (Meemaw) Brian Robert Tarbuk, Matthew Tarbuk and Isaac Tarbuk.  Sister of Frank (Elizabeth) Pearsol III, the late Gilbert J. Pearsol, and the late Vera-Jane Jones.  Debbie is also survived by Sister-in-law Ann Pearsol, Brother-in-law Robin Jones, her best friend, Rose Pfeuffer (and sons Wayne and Matthew) and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Shirley Lois (McMillen) Knezevich

Shirley Lois (McMillen) Knezevich, of North Versailles, peacefully passed on September 5, 2023, at the age of 94, with her loving family at her side.

Shirley was the loving mother of Nicole McEwen, Lisa (Eugene) Kligmann and Noel (Joseph) Saccameno; adoring grandmother of 9 and great-grandma of 1.

Shirley was preceded in passing by her husband, Nicholas Knezevich, daughter, Kim Ann Marjenhoff, and parents, Harold and Alice (Stewart) McMillen. Shirley’s creativity led her to attend art school and she became a professional artist. She taught art classes at the senior centers in Braddock and Turtle Creek.

She loved to read and was an active member of Friends of the Library at the North Versailles Library. She was on the Board of Directors of the Wilmerding YMCA. She loved swimming and swam several miles a week. She also loved to travel. Above all, Shirley loved her family. She will be deeply missed by all.

She was born October 21,1922 to Henry and Elizabeth (Volk) Uhrich in the Bryn Mawr section of White Oak, PA and graduated from McKeesport High School in 1940. Grace is survived by her son, Lyn and his wife Danee Hoover of Horse Shoe, NC, her daughter Christine Sutton of Deland, FL, granddaughters Tanya Shelton and her husband Mike Henriquez of Antioch, CA, Andrea (Dre) Sutton of New Orleans, LA and Victoria (Tori) Sutton of Charlotte, NC. There will be no services at Grace’s request. Arrangements were in care of Just 4 Cremation of Deland, Fla.

He is also survived by a niece Brittany Beal of Somerset and other nieces and nephews. (Csokuly) Byers; daughter, Mary Ann (Christopher Mozgawa) Luketic of West Newton; son, Samuel R. Albert F. Harmon, Jr., age 84, of Dravosburg, died at home on September 4, 2023.  Born September 12, 1938, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Albert Sr., and Mary Jane (Evans) Harmon and husband of Elaine (Laver) Harmon.

Albert worked at Copperweld in Glassport, the Pittsburgh Rail Car, and Napa on Route 51.

In addition to his wife, Albert is also survived by sons, Edward (Brittany) Harmon and Albert (Patty) Harmon; grandchildren, Kristie Harmon, Edward Harmon, McKenna Harmon, Ashley Donaldson, Justin (Tara) Harmon, and Alicia (Chris) Amodeo; many great-grandchildren; brother, Kinzy Harmon, former daughter-in-law, Deborah (Rick) Wellek, and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by siblings Clifford Harmon and Kreal Canning.  The services for Albert will be private.

Virginia Gail Murray

Virginia Gail (Gelbish) Murray, 74, of Greenock, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023. She was born October 14, 1948 in Braddock and was the daughter of the late Willis E. and Wilma (Diosegy) Murray. Virginia worked for the Department of Welfare as a Disability Advocate and retired after 30 years of service. She was an alumni of Divine Redeemer and graduate of the University of Pittsburgh with a BA in Psychology. She grew up in McKeesport and has resided in Greenock for the past 29 years. She was known for being completely devoted to her family and was an extremely generous and kind person. Her compassion for people was extraordinary. She provided for her family first before herself. Her commitment was to always do the right thing. She was a member of the former St. Pius Church, McKeesport and then St. Mary's Romanian Church until she was no longer able to attend. She is survived by her daughter, Michelle Gelbish of Greenock; grandchildren, Chloe Gelbish, Alexander Smith and Jack Creely; great-grandchildren, Julie, Anna, Raymond Jr., and Aleah Davenport; and sister, Cathryn (John) Flaherty of Gibsonia.
