Helen L. (Cain) Weeks, age 86, of Forward Twp., passed away on Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Walden's View of North Huntingdon. She was a baker at Pleasant Village Restaurant, a cafeteria worker at Westinghouse in Large, and the main dietician at St. Clare School in Clairton. She enjoyed cooking Sunday dinners and on holidays, gardening, and canning. She was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Forward Twp. Volunteer Fire Co. She enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and retired to take Billy to speech therapy. Born April 26, 1936 in Forward Twp., she was a daughter of the late Orion and Charlotta (Goettel) Cain and wife of the late William W. Weeks. She is survived by daughters, Kristine L. Weeks of Forward Twp. and Elva W. (Bernard) Metro of Monroeville; son, David W. (Jeanette) Weeks of West Elizabeth; grandchildren, Jayson, Ian, Nicole, Bernie, Beth, Brenda, Michael, Jordan and Billy; great-granddaughter, Allison; also, nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by siblings, John Cain, Robert Cain, Barbara Pacak and Alyce Wasserman. Friends will be received in the Paul E. Bekavac Funeral Home, 221 North Second Avenue, Elizabeth on Friday, October 14, 2022 from 4-8 PM. A funeral service will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 10 AM in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Floyd Hughes officiating. Burial will follow in Round Hill Cemetery, Elizabeth Twp. Wilbert R. Harrison

Wilbert R. Harrison, age 78, of Port Vue, formerly of McKeesport, died October 9, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.  Born May 31, 1944, in Coulter, he was the son of the late Jim and Emmaline Harrison and husband of the late Donna (Zimmerman) Harrison.  Wilbert was a die-hard Steelers fan, and everyone knew there would be no interruptions during the game.  He loved being outdoors with family, fishing and hunting, and cherished his time with the grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren. Wilbert was a very caring and loving guy that would help anyone out.

She was a member of the former Elizabeth Wesleyan Church and its organizations. Born May 6, 1930 in Elizabeth, she was a daughter of the late William B. and Mary A. (Videl) Van Fosson and wife of the late Reynold E. Hamadock, She is survived by stepdaughter, Cede (Anton) Cavalier of Elizabeth; stepson, R. Gregory (Pascale) Hamadock of Chantilly, VA; grandchildren, Adam (Jennifer) Cavalier of Elizabeth Twp., Gel Cavalier of Elizabeth Twp. and Liz Hamadock of New York, NY; great-grandchildren, Dominic and Amelia Cavalier; also, nieces and nephews. Mary Catherine Bradley, 86, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at Allegheny General Hospital.  She was born August 15, 1936 in Pittsburgh, daughter of the late George E. "Casey"  and Sara (Donahue) Bradley.  Prior to her retirement, Mary Catherine was an elementary school teacher and librarian.  She was a graduate of California State University and the University of Duquesne.  She was a member of St. Agnes Parish, Christian Mothers, Catholic Daughters of America and National AARP.  Mary Catherine was pursuing a hobby in acting and was a volunteer radio reader with the Radio Information Service of Pittsburgh.  She is survived by several cousins.  Friends will be received from 9 -10:30 a.m. on Friday  at the James W. David E. "Skip" Williams, Sr.

David “Skip” Eric Williams, 72, peacefully departed this life to be with Jesus at home, surrounded by his family, on October 9, 2022.  He was born in McKeesport on December 23, 1949, and grew up in Clairton, PA.  He is the son of Bertha D. Simmons Williams (Homestead, PA) and the beloved late David L. Williams.  Skip enjoyed life by spending time with his family and friends, attending the Gospel of Jesus Church which he was a member of with his wife, Diane, cheering on the Steelers, gardening, watching movies, working in his home, and engaging in lively discussions about politics with his mom.  He was a devoted husband, a committed father, a wonderful son, an incredible grandfather, a loyal friend, and a great provider for his family.
Skip graduated in 1967 from Clairton High School, where he played football and met lifelong friends.  He had an unmatched work ethic reflected in the 48 years he worked at US Steel Clairton works.  He later joined the U.S. Marine Corps., where he was an Investigator, received the National Defense Service Medal and Rifle Marksman Badge.  He took great pride in his service, and that training was seen in his determination, strength, grit, and never give up attitude.  Skip was a fighter with faith who endured the race.

Joseph M. Lugares

Joseph M. Lugares, age 89 of Versailles Boro, passed away on Tuesday, October 11, 2022 at UPMC McKeesport.  Born March 8, 1933 in McKeesport, he was the son of Joseph and Mary (Brtovic) Lugares.  Joseph was a Korean War Veteran in the US Army.  He managed the employment office for U. S. Steel National and Duquesne Works, as well as a multitude of other assignments within the operation of both plants.  For over 25 years, Joe was employed with the famous Duquesne University Tamburitzans, where he acted as both tour and company manager in addition to overseeing daily business and stage operations.  He was a member and past president of the Croatian Fraternal Union Lodge #146 in Versailles Borough.  In addition to this duty, he also served as club steward during the 70's and 80's, and past president and member of the Men's Club.  In the 1970's and early 80's, Joe was a member of Versailles Borough Council, serving his community in various capacities.

Carole Steimer Pastrick

Carole Steimer Pastrick, 91, of Duquesne, died Monday, Oct. 10, 2022, at home, after a wonderful life filled with love for family, friends, and adventures. An excellent seamstress, Carole designed and created many bridal and bridesmaids’ gowns, and prom dresses; contributed to the costumes of the Junior Tamburitzans of Duquesne and the PIFAI Tamburitzans of Pittsburgh; and created outfits for the Pirate Parrot in the mid-1980s. A member of St. Joseph Church in Duquesne, she was a longtime member of its choir, member of the Christian Mothers, past president of the Easter Seals Auxiliary, and a former employee of JoAnn Fabrics.

In her later years, Carole enjoyed traveling with family and friends including several trips to Alaska and Europe, but her favorite place would always be Geneva-on-the-Lake, Ohio. She especially enjoyed time there beginning in 1939 with her Mum and Dad, brothers, sister, cousins, and friends, and later with her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and nieces and nephews.

A daughter of the late Edward and Mary Weber Steimer, she was born March 28, 1931, in Duquesne. Wife of the late Albert F. Pastrick who died in 2008, she was preceded in death by a son, Edward (Ted) Pastrick in 1997. She is survived by children, Jennifer Pastrick of Confluence, Merle Pastrick Linn of West Mifflin, Jason Pastrick of Boulder, CO, Alison (Al) Pastrick Marschke of Franklin Park, and Kirsten A. (Tom Funk) Pastrick, Shannon L. Pastrick and Eric D. Pastrick of Duquesne; grandchildren, Abigail (Jason) Linn Evey, Eric P. (Tiffany) Linn Jr., Brian E. (Jamie) Linn, and Caroline Marschke; five great grandchildren; sister, Mary Steimer Dale of Pittsburgh; sister-in-law, Jean Steimer of Ligonier; and cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by brothers and sisters-in-law, Edward Jr., Joseph (Esther), Merl (Pola), Glenn (Reath), Jean (Joan), Orvis, Paul (Marcie) and Felix. 

Friends will be received Thursday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. in the Maloy-Schleifer Funeral Home, Inc., 915 Kennedy Avenue in Duquesne, 412-466-3300. A blessing service there on Friday at 11:30 a.m. will be followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at noon in St. Joseph Church in Duquesne with the Rev. John McKenna as celebrant. The family has suggested memorial contributions to the former United Cerebral Palsy Foundation now known as CLASS (Community Living and Support Services), 1400 South Braddock Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15218.

Harris, 85, of Port Charlotte, FL, formerly of Port Vue, PA died Thursday, October 6, 2022 at his home.  Born in Port Vue, PA on September 22, 1937, he was the son of the late Clark H. and Natisha Kimbling Harris.  He is survived by his wife, Barbara Conroy Harris, son, Richard (Ann) Harris of Monongahela, PA, 2 daughters, Ruth Ann (Lou) Pesante of Port Vue, PA and Rebecca (Fred) Vogt of Lincoln Borough, PA, 4 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren, and his brother, Ronald Harris of McKeesport, PA.  He was preceded in death by sister and brothers, Joanne Edgar (formerly of White Oak, PA), C. Hunter Harris (formerly of Houston, TX) and Jack Harris (formerly of Irwin, PA).  A graduate of McKeesport Vocational High School, he was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Punta Gorda, FL and Teamster’s Union Local #211.  Mr. Harris was a retired fleet mechanic for the former Daily News.  Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 on Sunday, October 16, 2022 from 1-4 and 7-9 PM.  A service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, October 17, 2022 at 11:00 AM with the Rev. Michael Stanton officiating.  Interment will follow in Mount Vernon Cemetery.

Ronald Wayne Corman, age 81, of Fort Myers, FL, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in McKeesport, PA on July 4, 1941 and is the son of the late Harry O. and Martha Louise Hunter Corman. He graduated from Duquesne High School and attended Waynesburg University and the University of Pittsburgh. Ronald proudly served in the United States Army and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal as a Sharpshooter. After serving in the United States Army, he retired from CSX after 32 years as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a member of numerous organizations including, the General Smedley D. Butler Post 701 White Oak American Legion; Braddock Elks Lodge No. 883; Free and Accepted Masons of Pennsylvania Infinity Lodge No. 546 in Penn Hills; Shriners International; Moose General Assembly Lodge No. 3000; Boston Vets Club; GBU in Duquesne; and the McKeesport Sportsmen’s Association.

Albert D. “Abby” Doehla, 77, of Carnegie, PA died Friday, October 7, 2022 at UPMC Mercy.  Born in McKeesport, PA on August 5, 1945, he was the son of the late Albert R. “Pro” Doehla and Marie Lena Kasten Doehla.  He was a retired veteran’s representative for Career Link, and loved serving his fellow veterans in his occupation.  He is survived by his wife, Linda Schoen, his daughters, Katie and Rachel (Mike), his son, Chris (Megan), grandson Connor, nephew, Robert Parker, great nephew, Charlie, and great great nephews, Mason and Tate.  He was preceded in death by his sister, Frances Bloss and his brother, Zane F. Doehla.  Abby was a graduate of McKeesport High School and earned his bachelor’s degree at the California University of Pennsylvania and served his country in the U.S. Army as a veteran of the Vietnam War.   Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 is in charge of arrangements.  The family suggests contributions to a favorite charity.

Tonya L. Ayers, age 46, of McKeesport, went to be with the Lord on October 1, 2022, at home, after a year of hospitalizations and surgeries. Born July 25, 1976, in McKeesport was the beautiful daughter of Linda Ziino and the late James R. Ayers.
Tonya was a caring, compassionate and gentle person. Her favorite thing to do was to cook and feed anyone. Tonya was an avid cat lover and Pittsburgh Steeler fan; she will be greatly missed by many. She worked as a waitress and bartender for many local businesses. Tonya was very much a people person; she recently started making flower arrangements for everyone she knew.

Joseph Stephen Szalko, Jr., age 71, of Port Vue, died on Wednesday, October 5, 2022. He was born in McKeesport on October 27, 1950 and is the son of the late Joseph Stephen, Sr. and Katherine Lytle Szalko. He was a 1969 graduate of Duquesne High School and was employed at US Steel, Edgar Thompson Plant, in their railroad division. Joseph was very good in baseball in his younger years and played semi pro for the Zemps. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and coins, and watching sports, especially the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pittsburgh Pirates. He also loved animals and especially his cat, Charlie.
