Shirley Anna Mae (Gutc) Deak, 90, of North Huntingdon, passed away Tuesday, February 28, 2023 at Walden’s View of North Huntingdon. Shirley was born on March 4, 1932 in Cuddy, Pa., daughter of the late Zigmund and Nellie (Walters) Gutc. Shirley was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Donald D. Deak. She is survived by her two daughters, Sandra Deak and her husband Rob Simon of Chestertown, NY and Beverly Deak and her husband Mark E. Abrams of Los Angeles, CA; and granddaughter, Heather Abrams of Conway, SC. Funeral service and interment are private. John A. Hoblak, age 87, of West Mifflin, passed away on Monday, February 27, 2023, at Concordia of Monroeville. Born in Duquesne on February 21, 1936, he was the son of the late John and Julia (Chobirko) Hoblak. He was retired from Tygart & Co as a welding and crane operator. After retirement, he worked at Gander Mountain for 17 years. John was a member of Christ Lutheran Church, Forest Hills, enjoyed hunting and fishing, and he proudly served his country in the Air Force during the Korean War. He was the loving husband of 59 years to the late Karen M. (Deets) Hoblak, who died on December 6, 2017. He is the father of Barbara Simmons of West Mifflin, James (Cynthia) Hoblak of North Huntingdon, Susan (Edward) Davies of Finleyville, Kathleen Hoblak of West Mifflin, Kristine (Robert) Karpinsky of Finleyville, Eric (Devera) Hoblak of West Mifflin and the late Jonathan Hoblak; 11 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren; and brother of the late Carol Hathaway and late Lawrence Hoblak. Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 2, 2023, from 1-8 p.m., at the MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 915 KENNEDY AVE., DUQUESNE, 15110, 412-466-3300, WILLIAM B. She was born July 11, 1933 in McKeesport and was daughter to the late Michael and Wilma (Milak) Simon; and the wife to the late John E. Schola before his passing in May 2012. Mimi was a graduate of McKeesport High School and a long time employee of Murphy's Warehouse, as well as a member of the Hungarian Club, and the former St. Stephen's Catholic Church in McKeesport and the Christian Mother's there.

Stella L. Ramsey, 73, formerly of Clairton, Pennsylvania, departed this life on February 18, 2023. She was born on March 4, 1949, to the late John and Louise (Rosser) Moore of Clairton, PA.

Stella graduated from McKeesport High School. After she continued her education at CCAC, Stella worked as an Activities Assistant for 20-plus years at Southwestern Nursing Home, where she was well-loved and respected! She was known for her love, support, and wise counsel. Stella’s favorite hobby was exercising. She walked every single day! Stella has touched so many souls with her wonderful presence! She will be greatly loved and missed by all.

She was preceded in death by her father, John Davis Moore, mother, Louise (Rosser) Moore, and Shawna Moore-Lee.

Mary W. Daviston, 96, of McKeesport, was born September 3, 1926, in Duquesne, PA. She was the beloved daughter of the late InoLee and Elizabeth (Daggett) Ruffin.

She was the 3rd oldest child of 5 siblings. Mary attended Duquesne High School. She worked at an early age in the laundry at McKeesport Hospital. Mary married Roy Daviston Sr. on November 12, 1948. To which were born four sons. They were the owners of two dry-cleaning businesses and were entrepreneurs in the entertainment business.

Mary was a caregiver to her late father-in-law for a long while until his death. Mary came to faith in Christ and became a member of Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Duquesne, PA in which she was a member for over 50 years. Mary served as an usher for many years and sang in the choir. She volunteered at Agape Manor Personal Care Home where she was loved by the residents. Mary would do Bible Trivia and reward them by giving the correct answer with a treat.

She is survived by her children Denise (Edward) Wasielczyk, Frank(Christy) Haney, Charles (Elaine) Haney, Don (Barb) Haney, Bonnie Conway, Becky (Fred) Bright, Heather (Pastor Glenn) Meyers and Lynn (Jeff) Himes; daughter-in-law Susanne Haney; 32 grandchildren; 30 great grandchildren; and sister Lillian (Edward) Seelhorst.

She was born July 9, 1939 in McKeesport, Pa., a daughter of the late William and Agnes Altmiller. Virginia was a member of St. Barbara's Church, Harrison City. She was a girl scout leader, trail monitor at the Yough River bike trail and a member of the Norwin Band Aides. Prior to her retirement, she was employed by Cleveland Price. She was preceded in death by her husband James in 2016, three brothers, Robert Altmiller, William and David Baker. She is survived by her daughter, Marianne Saber (Bruce); two sons, Michael Flynn and James Flynn (Laura); brother, Charles Baker (Cathy); sister-in-law, Cam Baker; 4 grandchildren, Daniel (Becky), Tim , Trevor and Shane Flynn; and great-grandchild, Rory. He was born August 20, 1932 in Mckeesport, Pa., a son of the late Charles and Elizabeth Simons Messinger. Prior to his retirement, David was employed as a pipe fitter by Firth Sterling. He was a lifteime member of the White Oak American Legion, VFW, Italian Miners Society and the Guffy Club. Edward David Singer, age 96, of White Oak, died on Friday, February 24, 2023 at his residence. Edward served in WW II in the army, was a 50 plus year member of General Smedley D. Butler, Post 701, White Oak American Legion, was the founder and proprietor of Singer Paint and Glass Company in White Oak, on Long Run Road, and still exists at its exact location since 1958. He was a past president of the Mon Yough Chamber of Commerce, and he proudly received the Small Businessman of the Year award in 1993. Most of all, Edward loved his family and all of his friends.
