Donald A. "Donny" Chapman, age 71, of Liberty Borough, died June 24, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport Hospital. Born January 21, 1951, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late Joseph and Josephine (Kumanchik) Chapman and the husband of Linda (Lerro) Chapman for 42 years.
Donny retired from Central Maintenance, where he retired as a supervisor. He was a US Navy veteran serving, on the USS Barney, during the Vietnam War. Donny was the vice-president and beloved member of the Liberty Borough Veterans Association. He enjoyed watching old westerns and the Sci-Fi channel, cards, cornhole, and playing many other games. Donny was also an animal lover, leaving behind his pet bird, "Loki."

Patricia "Patty" Balin age 81, of McKeesport, passed away on June 18, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport. Born May 30, 1941, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Francis Jess and Katherine Taylor and beloved wife to her high school sweetheart Thomas J. Balin for 61 years.
Patty volunteered at her church's religious education center and was a Cub Scout Den Mother. She was instrumental in forming the McKeesport Firefighters Ladies Auxiliary in 1973. Patty enjoyed bowling with friends in the William Penn bowling league and the senior league at North Versailles Lanes. She loved cruise ships, casinos trips, and her fluffy Bichon Frise "Pookie Bear."
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Thomas Jr. and David Balin.

Patricia A. Bach, age 83, of McKeesport, died June 20, 2022, at Kane Community Living Center in McKeesport. Born November 3, 1938, in Cook County, IL, she was the daughter of the late William and Nelle (Caton) Fidler and wife of the late Robert E. Bach. Patricia loved spending time with friends and family and playing bingo. She is survived by children, Christopher (Dawn) Bach and Harriet Coffey; grandchildren, Ashley, Brandon, Michael, Chloe, Allison, and Zendaya Mann. Patricia was also preceded in death by son, Robert Bach; grandchildren, Caitlyn and Robert; sisters, Bobbie Clemens, Harriet Fidler, and Debbie Bryan. Anita S. Germany, age 33, of Versailles, died June 17, 2022, at home. Born December 21, 1988, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of Earl L. Germany and Yolanda (Irie Griffin Jr.) Medina.
Anita was a CNA and worked in many places such as Kane Regional, UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, and the VA Hospital. In her free time, she loved shopping and spending time with friends, and laughing.
In addition to her parents she is survived by her partner, John R. Jones; children, Jayden Coulter and Jordyn Jones; siblings, Antonio Medina, Irie Griffin III, Jayvon Germany, Jayla Germany, Jay Germany, and Shawnee Germany; also many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Family and friends may be received at Willig Funeral Home & Crematory on Monday, June 27, 2022, from 10 a.m. till the time of the memorial service at noon in the funeral home chapel.

Christian E. Pearson, age 33, of Versailles Borough, passed away June 15, 2022. Born October 29, 1988, in Monroeville, he was the son of Christian T. and Daphne (Chevrez) Pearson and the fiancé of Jaymei Serrano.
Christian was the owner and operator of Infinite Trades Construction. He loved and cherished his family and the time spent with them. Christian enjoyed fishing, music, and sports. He was very proud of his tattoo on his arm of the Puerto Rican flag representing part of his heritage. Christian was also a pet lover, leaving behind his loyal dog, "Alvin."

Like a true fisherman, Thomas Maldonado passed away on the morning of June 14, 2022, in Pittsburgh. He was the son of the late Albino Maldonado and Cecilia (Kelly) Yniguez and the husband of Patricia (Ackerman) Maldonado. Thomas was best known for his love of fishing and would never miss an opportunity to pass on his true passion for catching the biggest fish. His nearly perfect attendance at the annual Lake Emily Fishing Derby was one of his greatest adventures. He would take his children, grandchildren, and in later years, any neighborhood kid that wanted to attend. He enjoyed watching The Price Is Right, Wheel of Fortune, and any sporting event on tv. If anyone listened, he would tell stories of his fishin' trips while scratching off his bingo tickets. He religiously played his daily numbers, sometimes even lucky enough to win. As an Army Veteran and retiree from Riverside Nursing Home, his stories traveled throughout the years and touched many people.

Michael W. Kelly, age 60, of McKeesport, died June 13, 2022, at home. Born July 23, 1961, in North Charleroi, he was the son of the late Charles E. Kelly and Mary L. Lavender and the husband of Karen (Pastore) Kelly.
Michael was a United States Army veteran. He enjoyed trips to the racetrack and playing guitar in his free time. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Desirae (Daniel) Bendel and Michelle See; grandchildren, Cameron, Dean, and Isabella; and sister, Carrie Ashcraft. He was preceded in death by his brother, Charles E. Kelly, Jr.

Richard A. Pomycala, age 84, of Port Vue, died June 8, 2022, at St. Clair Hospital. Born September 14, 1937, in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Charles and Mary (Busch) Pomycala and husband of the late Sandy (Buono) Pomycala for 60 years.
Richard was self-employed and lettered many monuments in local cemeteries. He was a member of the Saints Joachim and Anne Parish, the North Versailles Seniors, the former Port Vue Men's Club, and the Port Vue and East McKeesport American Legion. Richard enjoyed woodworking and was known as "Mr. Fix It" and was also on the 1950 McKeesport Little League World Series Team.

William S. Sturkie Bowser, Sr., age 62, of McKeesport, Pennsylvania, passed away on Sunday, May 29, 2022. Will crossed over peacefully in the comfort of his home.
Will was born in McKeesport on July 22, 1959, to father Archie Sturkie and the late Judy (Bowser) Paxon. The oldest of eight siblings, Will didn't have the opportunity for much formal education. At the age of 14, he left home and met his life partner and wife, Kathy (Barton) Bowser. They married on May 4, 1979. In the early years, he provided for his family by working any small jobs he could find while still obtaining his general education degree (GED). Will retired from a career at Ankor Industrial of Turtle Creek, Pennsylvania, where he was an operator in the refinery.
Will is best known for being the neighborhood father figure, a witty and charming prankster who always had a trick up his sleeve. Will loved a good cookout, fishing, and most of all, being in his castle with his family.

Bernice W. Lako age 91, of McKeesport, died May 29, 2022, at Riverside Care Center. Born August 24, 1930, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Frank and Anne (Mashalik) Domino and the wife of the late Steve Lako Jr.
Bernice was a member of Holy Family National Catholic Church.
Bernice is survived by her niece, Mary Ann (James) Wadginski, and great-nephews, Michael, Kenny, and Patrick. In addition to her husband and parents, she was also preceded in death by her siblings.

James J. "Jim" Aversa, III, age 55, of Wilkins Twp., died May 24, 2022, at AHN Forbes Hospital. Born January 30, 1967, in Pittsburgh, he was the son of the late James Jr. and Eva (DeLeonardo) Aversa and the loving husband of Marisa (Rodriguez) Aversa for 25 years. Jim was a 1986 graduate of Swissvale High School and a volunteer with the Swissvale Fire Department from 1987 to 1999. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers and Penguins fan who could tell you stats about different players like it was second nature. Jim was a proud dad and was known for his generosity, and his final gift came through organ donation with CORE. In addition to his wife, Jim is survived by children, Megan L. Aversa, Cate L. Aversa, and James J. Aversa, IV; sister, Michelle Aversa, and many cousins. Karen M. Horvath, age 66, of Port Vue, died May 23, 2022, at UPMC McKeesport. Born October 3, 1955, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Emil E. and Ida E. (Coddington) Yesensky and the wife of the late Louis S. Horvath.
Karen enjoyed learning new things, being on her computer, and cooking vegetarian meals. In her younger years, she enjoyed gardening. Karen loved animals and her Chihuahua, Pablo. She was smart, quick-witted, always willing to help others, and loved spending time with family and friends.
Karen is survived by her daughter, Taylor (Tom) Cadonic; brother, Emil "Tim" Yesensky; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Patyn Monroe Wilson, age 5, of McKeesport, went to be with the Lord on May 12, 2022. Born December 18, 2016, in Pittsburgh, she was the loving daughter of James Wilson and Misty Brown. Patyn loved to sing and dance, especially to SpongeBob SquarePants. Her favorite color was purple, and she had a vast collection of unicorns and rainbows. Paytn aspired to be a Superhero when she grew up and affectionately referred to her mom and dad as "Super Mommy and Super Daddy" because they were her heros'. Matilda A. "Tillie" Gricar age 90, of Versailles, died May 13, 2022, at home. Born May 1, 1932, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Philomena (Chiaverini) Como and the wife of the late Frank A. Gricar.
Tillie was the former co-owner of the Farmer's Fresh in McKeesport. She also worked for Bell Atlantic and was a manager at the Chestnut Inn in her earlier years. Tillie served as a Democratic Committee woman and had a love for politics. She also enjoyed cooking and baking.
Tillie is survived by her grandchildren, Charisse (Matthew) Richards and Perry Gricar; great-grandchildren, Xandria, Tabitha, Aryanna, Rilya, Matthew, and Victoria; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
