Vernon Community Presbyterian Church.  Mrs. Fiddler was a member of the Central Presbyterian Church of Chambersburg, was a graduate of McKeesport High School, class of 1940, and attended the University of Pittsburgh.  She was a member of Falling Spring AARP #2840, the Afternoon Club, and the Kittochinny Historical Society, and served on the board of Meals on Wheels and IRP at Wilson College.  Friends will be received in the Hunter Funeral Home, Inc., 1600 Coursin Street, McKeesport, PA  15132 on Friday from 3-7 PM and Saturday from 10-11 AM.  A service will be held Saturday, October 29, 2016 at 11:00 AM in the funeral home with the Rev. Nick Novak Jr., 83 and 5 1/2, of Duquesne, died Thursday, Oct. 20, 2016, at home. He was born April 19, 1928, in Duquesne, son of the late Nicholas and Anna (Magdic) Novak. He was a retired schoolteacher from the Duquesne School District, and was the boys and girls junior high basketball coach. He was a member of the St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church in McKeesport. He proudly served his country in the Marine Corps during World War II. He was a Golden Gloves boxer while in the service, and later boxed professionally under the name of Eddie Polo. He later boxed in Madison Square Garden and the University of Miami, from which he graduated. He belonged to the SNF Lodge No. 76 in Duquesne. He enjoyed going to his summer home in Ligonier, and traveling to Florida. He was one of the winningest coaches in the Heritage Serbian Basketball Tournament. He was the beloved husband of 57 years to the late Lorraine M. (Campbell) Novak. He was the father of Sandra Wickerham, West Middlesex, Nick E. (Lori) Novak, Murrysville, and Elizabeth "Beth" (Stephen) Kracinovsky, of Duquesne. He was the loving grandfather of Howard "Buddy" Wickerham, Kriss (Jason) Wickerham-Rusiewicz, Chase Wickerham, Nicholas (fiancee Brianne) Novak, Alex Novak, Ian Kracinovsky, and Colin (fiancee Tessa Marie) Kracinovsky; great-grandfather of Kenzie Rusiewicz. Brother of the late Steven J. (surviving spouse Susie Dixon Novak), the late Jane (late John) Plake, and the late George Novak; Brother-in-law of Shirley (Chuck) Heasley, of North Huntingdon, and also survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Visitation is from noon to 8 p.m. Sunday at  MALOY-SCHLEIFER FUNERAL HOME INC., 915 Kennedy Ave., Duquesne, 412-466-3300, William B. Schleifer, supervisor, William Brian Schleifer, Funeral Director. A Pomen service will be held at 7 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 24, 2016, at St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, with the Very Rev. Stevo Rocknage officiating. Burial with military honors will be in Jefferson Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Sava Scholarship Fund.

Walter J. Mandella "Spike", age 82 of McKeesport, passed away on Tuesday, October 18, 2016 at his home. Born August 28, 1934 in McKeesport, he was the son of the late Walter C. and Regina (Liebold) Mandella, and loving husband of Shirley (Obusek) Mandella for nearly 55 years. Spike worked for US Steel National Works and also worked for Continental Can Company in West Mifflin. He devoted many years as a youth baseball coach in McKeesport, and was active with the American Legion Baseball League and a scout for the Philadelphia Phillies. Spike's greatest joy was his time spent at Glendale Lake near Prince Gallitzin State Park, where he loved to spend time fishing and enjoying the mountains. He cherished his time there so much that he eventually made it his second home from spring through fall. Spike will be remembered for his unique sense of humor, and his one-liners will be missed by many! In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Daniel (Erica) Mandella of White Oak; daughter, Terri (Scott) Pollock of White Oak; grandchildren, Elizabeth and Stephanie Mandella, Emily, Stephen, Matthew, and Sarah Mandella, and Hunter and Samantha Pollock; also many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his son, Larry (surviving wife, Wendy) Mandella; and brother, Charles Mandella. He was an avid fisherman, having traveled to the Great Lakes and Canada in search of his "biggest catch". Jake's dream of owning a motorcycle became a reality a few years ago when he became a proud owner of his Harley Davidson. He enjoyed all Pittsburgh Sports, and was also a Penn State fan. In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Randall (Linda) Jacob of North Huntingdon, Diana (Mark) Long of Penn Twp., and Lori (Donny) Elias of Jeannette; grandchildren, Heather Elias, Chelsea Long, Rebecca Long, Michael Elias, Alina Jacob, and Carlin Jacob; sister, Dolores (William) Halas of North Huntingdon; and one great-grandson on the way. He was preceded in death by his sister, Marie Varga. Ruth T. Andrews of White Oak, four months shy of her 100th birthday, passed peacefully surrounded by her family on Saturday, October 8, 2016 at The Willows of Presbyterian SeniorCare. Born February 8, 1917 in Pittsburgh, she was the daughter of the late George and Mary (Thomas) Tonks, and loving wife of the late Frank Andrews. Ruth was a former member of the Ballantyne United Methodist Church as well as the Wesley United Methodist Church, where she enjoyed singing in the choir and serving as the church librarian. She most recently attended Sampson's Mills Church, serving as one of their Deacons, and dedicated her free time volunteering for the various church functions. She also enjoyed her time spent as a Brownie Leader and Girl Scout Leader, and was a member of the McKeesport Music Club, along with being a charter member and past president of the White Oak Women's Club. In her earlier years, she worked in Washington DC in a Naval research lab during WWII and later went on to dedicate her time as an administrative assistant for Goodwill. She is survived by her daughter, Janice (Gregory) McCullough of Monroeville; grandchildren, Jenni (Mike) Repcik and Erin (Steve) Shakoske; great-grandchildren, Lily, Cash, Emery “Emey” and Monroe “Roe”; and many nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by her brother, George Tonks and sister, Jennett Johnson. Family and friends will be received at Jaycox-Jaworski Funeral Home & Crematory on Wednesday, October 12, 2016 from 1-5 p.m. Funeral Service will be held Thursday, October 13, 2016 at 10 a.m. in the funeral home chapel. MARY KATHRYN TKOCS of Duquesne, died Oct. 4, 2016.  She was the daughter of the late Edward and Nancy (Gamble) Pirhalla.  She joins her late husband, Walter "Wally" Tkocs, who died April 21, 2005, after spending 52 years together.  In the later years, they spent 6 months in Florida and 6 months in Duquesne and Plantation Park in Mercer, Pa.  She was a bank teller for the National City Bank of Duquesne, retiring after 12 years of service.  Kay graduated in 1950 from Duquesne High School.  She was a member of Christ the Light of the World Parish.  She is survived by her sons Douglas (Valerie) Tkocs of West Mifflin and Walter Tkocs, Jr. of Glassport; granddaughter Kayla (Justin Lutheran) Tkocs and great granddaughter Gianna Marie Lutheran; also nieces and nephews.  She was a cub scout den mother; a former member of the Duquense Auxillary Police; former member of the Duquesne Women's Club; former member of the AARP and a Red Hotter at the Boy Lake Estates in FL.  Kay was preceded in death by her sister and best friend, Pat Lengyel.  She was a die heart Steeler and Pens fan.  She enjoyed sewing all her granddaughter's clothes, knitting and doing crafts and entering shows.  She camped every weekend at Plantation Park in Mercer.

Mary Ann Strager Mamula Popovich, 68, of McKeesport died Sunday, October 2, 2016 at home.  Born December 13, 1947 in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late George J. “Scottie” and Sophie Munyas Strager and wife of the late Stoyan Popovich.  She was a retired high school French and English teacher in the McKeesport Area School District.  She was a member of St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church, a graduate of Slippery Rock University, and was the administrator of civil service exams to police and fire candidates for the City of McKeesport.  She was the author of “Thy Perfect Gift”, a book of profound prayers and powerful words of wisdom, and told everyone she was a graduate of the George S. Patton School of Tact and Charm (no tact, no charm, I just get the job done).  Friends will be received in St. Sava Serbian Orthodox Church on Wednesday, October 5, 2016 from 10-11 AM.  A service will be held there at 11:00 AM with the Very Rev.
