Patricia Ann Owens McSurdy, 83 of Jefferson Hills, passed away on Monday, September 4th, 2023 at her home. She was born in McKeesport on July 24th, 1940 to the late Raymond and Eleanor Owens Glos. Patricia was the loving wife of 59 years to William A. McSurdy. In addition to her husband, Patricia is survived by her daughters Cheryl McSurdy of Jefferson Hills, Carole McSurdy of White Oak, Tammi (Dennis) Kirby of Indiana PA, and Linda (Michael) Stouffer of Cooperstown, her sister Rita Payton of Fairport NY, her brother Bernard Glos of Jefferson Hills, grandchildren Erin, Timothy, Daniel, Katie, Victoria, Jamie, and Julie as well as many nieces and nephews. Patricia was preceded in death by her parents. She was a member of the St. Paulinus Church. Patricia enjoyed taking care of flowers and had an affinity for crochet. She was famously known as the “coupon lady” and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Arrangements have been entrusted to S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. Mari “Mar” Rae Check, 47, of McKeesport, formerly of Liberty Boro and Elizabeth, passed away at home on Friday, August 25, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on July 17, 1976, to Joseph A. Check and Rhonda Maust Armstrong. Mari was the loving partner of 17 years to Stephen Burey. She is survived by her father Joseph A. Check, of Charleroi, mother Rhonda Armstrong, of McKeesport, partner Stephen Burey, daughters Paige Wasko, of McKeesport, Emmy Lou Burey, of McKeesport, sister Tamie (Mark) Panza, of Charleroi, many nieces and nephews, many dear friends and loyal dog Dixie. Mari was preceded in death by sisters Tracy Check, Autumn Marie Bentley, and brother Todd Bentley. She was a member of the Judah Ministries in McKeesport, and the Teamsters #205 of White Oak. She enjoyed spending time with her children, and family. She also loved the outdoors and the many activities that came with it like hiking, camping, visiting different waterfalls and simply just enjoying nature. Mari worked at McKeesport Hospital as a dietician and previously worked as a cook for 8 years at Jo-Lynn's Pizza in Port Vue. Valerie Kanyak Gallagher, 67, of Dravosburg, PA, passed away Thursday, August 24th, 2023. She was born in McKeesport on January 1st, 1956, to the late Peter and Isabel Shoaf Kanyak. Valerie was loved by many. She is survived by the loves of her life, her two daughters, April Cislo Banks, of West Mifflin, and Amber (Josh) Saunders, of Irwin, and her step-son, Ryan Gallagher, of West Mifflin. She was affectionately referred to as “Nana” by her three grandchildren, Baylee Banks, Joshua Saunders, and Adalynn Saunders. She is also survived by her husband, Richard Gallagher, of West Mifflin, and her very best friend, Mary Eversole, of White Oak, as well as many nieces and nephews. Valerie was greeted in Heaven by her parents, Peter and Isabel (Shoaf) Kanyak, her brother, Stephen Kanyak, and her two sisters, who doubled as her best friends, Janice Kanyak and Lori Falchetti.  Valerie had so many friends and family who loved her. Val loved to be a grandmother, a mother, and a friend to all. Valerie was exceptional at her job of being a caretaker, and she also left behind many clients whom she loved as her own. She was a member of the American Legion #380 in Dravosburg as well as the Dravosburg United Methodist Church and the Dravosburg Volunteer Fire Company, and also worked as a waitress at Denny’s in West Mifflin. She leaves behind the memory of her laugh and beautiful smile. Andrew Alan Jenkins

Andrew Alan Jenkins, 75, of Dravosburg, formerly of Duquesne, passed away on Monday, August 21, 2023, at Jefferson Hospital. He was born at Monessen Hospital on August 17, 1948, to the late William and Virginia Arnold Jenkins. He is survived by his life partner, Cheryl Dupak of Dravosburg, son Andrew W. Jenkins, of Lincoln Place, brother William (Sandy) Jenkins, or Irwin, and many nieces and nephews. Andrew was preceded in death by his first wife Donna Coberly, brother James Jenkins, and sister Pricilla Miranda. He worked as a Tool and Die maker for Fisher Body in West Mifflin for 40 years and was a member of the Auto Workers Union, the American Legion in Dravosburg as well as Port Vue, and served in the National Guard. Andrew was an excellent pool player and used to own the A.W. Pool Hall in McKeesport in the 1960s, was an amazing pencil drawing portrait artist, an avid Pittsburgh sports fan, loved singing and had an excellent voice, and was actively engaged with social media. William Jacobs

William Elias Jacobs

William Jacobs, 100 years old of Boca Raton, formerly of Jefferson Hills/Clairton passed away on August 11, 2023. He was born in McKeesport Hospital on March 12, 1923, to Jacob Mike Jacobs and Naffa Audi Jacobs (immigrants from Lebanon). William (Jake) has rejoined his beloved wife, Dolores Richel Jacobs (she was one of 10 siblings).

William (Jake) was preceded in death by six sisters and brothers (Manira, Nazara, Annie, Evelyn, Michael & George).

He is survived by his three children, Linda Costolo, William Jacobs & Dennis Jacobs. Margaret George, 99 years old from Lebanon, KY is his only surviving sibling. William has a plethora of grandchildren and great-grandchildren in Florida and Texas. William also has a slew of nieces and nephews located all over the world.

William (Jake) graduated Clairton High School to go into the Army for the Second World War. He is a WWII veteran and has been awarded the Purple Heart. Michael Jacobs and George Jacobs, his brothers, were also veterans of WWII and the Korean War respectively.

William retired from US Steel (Clairton Works) after about 35 years. He was an avid gardener, producing grapes, various fruits, vegetables, walnuts, and blackberries on his property. Above all, William loved his family members, of which there are many. William was a quiet man, living by the saying “Talk only when it is an improvement to the silence”. He will be missed by all that knew him. His journey continues!

Family and friends will be received on Friday, August 18, 2023, from 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 AM at S.M. FINNEY FUNERAL HOME, 432 N. 6th St, Clairton, PA 15025. She was born in McKeesport on October 30, 1939, to the late Paul and Elizabeth Jones Mills. Carole was the loving wife of 65 years to George Melvin King. She is survived by her husband, George King of Forward Township, son Paul (Donna) King, of Clairton, daughters Joan (Ken) Smith, of Lincoln Boro, Laurie (Robin) Davis, of Clairton, sister Paula (Steve) Nutini, of Hilliard, OH, grandchildren, Jenny, Carrie, Joshua, Joseph, Angelique, Gabrielle, great-grandchildren Laney, Cage, Knox, Hunter, Wyatt, Bo, Nicholas, and Katie and many nieces and nephews. Carole was preceded in death by brother Jackie Mills, and beloved dog Taco. Eleanor May “Honey” Wilson, 82, a lifelong resident of Dravosburg, passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, July 24, 2023. She was born in Mifflin Township on February 27, 1941 to the late Elmer and Catherine Reid Wilson. She is survived by her son, Michael Froman, of Florida, grandchildren Gregory and Brian Froman, of Florida as well as nieces, nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, Honey was preceded in death by her son Mark Froman, Jr., brother Elmer Wilson, and sister Jean Zettler. She worked as a cook for many years at the Skyview Restaurant & Lounge, which was located in West Mifflin. Honey’s sense of humor will be missed by all those that knew and loved her, she was awesome and one of a kind. He was born in Morgantown, West Virginia on July 8, 1977 to the late Kenneth Gouker and the surviving Deborah (Boyd Gouker) Gecan. He is survived by his wife of 9 years, Beth Boyles Gouker, mother Deborah (Boyd Gouker) Gecan, step-father Dale Gecan, children Jacob and Emma Gouker of Glassport, brother Brian Gouker, of South Carolina, niece Kayla Gouker, of South Carolina, aunt Beverly Gouker, of Elizabeth, uncle Harold Gouker, of Elizabeth, in-laws James and Glenna Boyles, of Indianapolis, Indiana, best friend and adopted brother, Chadd Augustine, of West Mifflin, and his loving cats, Bear, Shadow, Dexter and Cash. Mike was preceded in death by his father, Kenneth Gouker, and grandmother Margaret Boyd. He was a member of the 46 Club in Wilson, as well as Wilson Presbyterian Church, and was employed in the deli at Shop n’ Save in Century square. Robert J. Lash, 75 of Jefferson Hills passed away on Saturday, July 8th, 2023 at Jefferson Hills Healthcare and Rehabilitation. He was born in Pittsburgh on October 21st, 1947 to the late Robert Lash and Susan Pollick. He is survived by his godchild Melissa Costa D’Souza, many cousins, and family members. He liked to live life alone, but when in social settings, he was full of life. He was a prolific writer and author. He had the uncanny ability to discern your interests and engage you in lively and spirited discussions in just about any topic. He was a product of his generation in many ways, but larger than life when it came to literary pursuits. To truly gain an appreciation of his life read one of his published short stories. Barbara Ann Snyder Esper, 83 of North Huntingdon died Thursday July 6th, 2023 at Forbes Hospital. She was born in Clairton on February 7th, 1940 to the late William Snyder and Agnes Catherine Snizik Goldsworthy. She is survived by her sister Denise Goldsworthy Petrik of Glassport, as well as her cat Simba and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents Barbara was preceded in death by her sister Dolores Snyder Eitleman and her step father John Goldsworthy. She was a member of the Diocese of Pittsburgh in Natrona Heights and also worked as a cook for the Diocese. Barbara enjoyed vacationing at the beach, showing off her dance moves while listening to music and always cherished family get togethers. Arrangements have been entrusted to E.C. In addition to his parents, Clint is further survived by his children C.J. March, Chelsea March, and his wife with whom they are separated Tina Michalski, also survived by his uncles, aunts, and cousins as well as his favorite dogs Bruiser and Sky. Clint loved to cook and enjoyed being a handyman and finding tasks that needed to be done around the house as well as fantasize about sports cars and motorcycles and was an avid dog lover. He is survived by his sister, Carol Daugherty of Port Vue, brother John McGarrity of McKeesport, granddaughter Hailey Jayde Trainer of Greensburg, as well as nieces and nephews. Don was preceded in death by his daughter, Dawn Nikole Lea Trainer. He enjoyed collecting baseball cards and had a passion for gambling. His favorite movie was The Godfather and he was a master-class chef at cooking hot sausage. His favorite job that he had was being a taxi driver as well as a driver for Chucks Ice Cream. Gabby worked as an agency nurse at Hill Crest Nursing. She loved music, the Pittsburgh Steelers, vacationing at the ocean and cooking.

Tina is survived by her daughter Amber (Roger) Faye Marie Kish of Dravosburg, father of her child Scott Mitchell of McKeesport as well as nieces and nephews, cousins, many close friends and her favorite pets Rebel, Eddie, Ares, and Hella. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by all of her sisters. Tina loved to watch TV and go shopping as well as play games on her phone and cleaning around the house. He is survived by his wife Gloria Helman of Clairton, his son Christopher (Lorie) Helman of Dravosburg, daughter Christina Ray of Port St. Lucie of Florida, brothers Gary (Georgann) Helman of Baldwin, Dennis Helman of Clairton, sisters Diane (Rick) Lapinski of Rostraver, Debbie (Tom) Caley of Jefferson, Barb (Mark) Yantek of Collegeville, Cathy (Ed) Demchak of Clairton, grandchildren Abriana, Connor, Zachary, Kylee, Austin, and many nieces and nephews and his dog Loki. Ralph was a member of the Clairton Presbyterian Church and the Elizabeth Boat Club as well as the Greene Cove Yacht Club.
